Danielle Wiesendanger – Associate HR Business Partner

I am a proud Swiss born, ski-obsessed, lover of cheese and chocolate (though never together..). Though I was born and raised in Switzerland, I have also lived in America, Germany and now the UK. I also intend to travel around the rest of the world one day! Aside from moving around the world, I enjoy bouldering, hot yoga (a new obsession), dancing and reading. Whilst I love working in HR and I am CIPD qualified, I secretly believe I was born to be a pop star (fortunately for everyone my current audience consists of my showerhead). Oh also, a fun fact, I have broken both legs and both arms, I think Pogo sticks and stairs should come with warning signs!

Can you tell us a little bit about HR at ClearBank?

HR plays a strategic role within ClearBank and enables employees to perform at their best level, which in turn allows the business to succeed. As we all play Generalist roles, our day to day can vary from recruitment to payroll to writing policies and procedures and everything and anything in-between! As a team, we all work closely together as projects often overlap and everyone is really there to support each other.

What excites you most about your role?

Probably how varied my role is, no day is like the next. There is so much variety in terms of your projects, who you’re working with and what your day to day looks like – that coming into work just becomes exciting.

What’s the highlight of your week?

Does lunchtime count?

If not, then I really enjoy our team meetings. It’s nice to touch base, see what everyone is doing and to see where they need support. This links back to what excites me most about my role as you never know what new projects you might end up working on.

What has been your most surprising day at ClearBank?

Oh gosh.. sometime last October a brave, (or crazy!) individual decided to scale the Heron Tower. We could see it perfectly from where we worked in the Gherkin at the time. I’d only been working at ClearBank for about 2 months at this point but it was hilarious. The whole office had their noses pressed to the glass watching him (terrifying but exhilarating). I distinctly remember my hands sweating on his behalf!

What would be the title of your autobiography?

Wise and Dangerous by Danielle Wiesendanger (do you get the pun yet?)

What would be your karaoke song of choice?

Wannabe – Spice Girls; it’s a classic for our generation.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I think probably New Zealand because the landscapes are beautiful – it reminds me of Switzerland (did I mention I’m a proud Swiss?).

But in all honesty, aside from the landscapes – everyone (all two people) I have met from New Zealand have been lovely and raved about how great it is there.
